In Paulo Coelho’s world famous best selling novel, ‘The Alchemist’, a simple Andalusian shepherd boy dreams of finding a big treasure. He bids goodbye to his home & to all that is familiar & sets out on the journey of his life that takes him all the way to the Pyramids of Egypt. Fascinating & life changing as his adventure turns out to be, he ends up being guided by ‘the signs’ to find his treasure buried all he while, literally back IN HIS OWN BACKYARD in Spain! Not only did this book recently “ask me” to read it (the first book that stared at me when I opened the old glass book cabinet at my parents’ home, on vacation in India, & I am of the creed that believes there are ‘no coincidences’); but it was also at a pretty intensely soul searching phase of my life. And, I couldn’t but help draw a striking analogy to something that has always been close to my heart- seeking the true source of human wholeness, & inner harmony. And, I too repeatedly have realized that nature keeps guiding us back to what we often overlook…our own inner environment; the source of all our wholeness. When we start exploring that, is also the beginning of realizing that our biggest treasure lies right inside us.
Antahsaara – internal treasure…
