5 Heart Centered Yin Ways to ‘Be’ During the Corona Times
Whatever the deeper facts, larger truths, & personal understandings may be, the world is well in the middle of witnessing something which for many of us, is unlike anything we have ever witnessed during our lives. It feels unreal. For many, there might be this urge to grab a remote; switch it off like a movie we aren’t enjoying. Well, all things do come to an end. That is the cyclical law of nature. We trust this will too; sooner than later. We also trust that it will have opened us up to some truly invaluable insights; timeless, life long lessons that we are all, as part of the collective consciousness, being guided to embrace. We all are hopefully already practicing the right personal & social practices, during this extraordinary time. This too shall pass.
Meanwhile, here are 5 heart centered, yin ways that I, as a holistic healer find invaluable to allow us to move better through these ‘different’ times; with a greater sense of empowerment, sanity, & grounding.
1. Avoid the constant urge to tune into news updates
Resist news channel switching; & limit social media surfing. Once you have basic relevant information update, you don’t need it in different ways & voices. Avoid giving in to the mind’s addictive need for it. Simply be proactive about doing right, what is in your hands. Adding to your or your family’s sense of paranoia & helplessness is not one of them. Fear keeps the nervous system in stress mode at all times, & radically reduces the body’s inbuilt physical immunity. It is also hugely infectious. It is especially essential to consciously practice detaching from it when it starts attaching to you in overwhelming ways. When there is something new that is worth knowing, it will reach you.
2. When shopping, be led by your need; not your greed
The primal self preservation instincts; & the hold of Darwinian theories might make it difficult for some of us to practice this, but we all have the highest chance of getting our essential needs covered if we all collectively shop mindfully. Plus, scarcity is often mind based. It is fueled by, & keeps you connected to fear & insecurity. Also, remember, greater thoughtfulness, especially during testing times, contributes to the collective ripple effects & higher vibrations which benefit the entire community.
3. Practice Conscious Gratitude
This modern spiritual cliche stays as powerful as ever. Gratitude is a powerful reminder of just how many things, beyond our control, are seamlessly working for us; even when so much seems to go wrong! It is a powerful reminder of the inherent intelligence & order of the universe. At these times, you can express gratitude, for things like your health & sanity; catching sunsets from home with your family; being saved from long commutes & being able to work from home in pajamas.; being able to catch a movie on TV during the day time, & more! Gratitude is humbling; cleansing; & when made a part of our daily lives, creates the vibrations for more reasons to be grateful for.
4. Hold Space & Contribute Positively
Hold emotional space, even if from a distance, for everyone, especially those who might be more directly affected in any way, than you; or those who are required to be out each day, & do not have the luxury to stay at home. Pray for all if so inclined; & hold thoughtful; non judgmental distance conversations. If you wish to contribute to conversations, figure out safe ways to create positivity; hope; & cheer. Do whatever brings joy just to you, or share your talents with others- such as writing, You tubing, volunteering in safe ways. The dancing, drumming, & Dj-ing on Italy’s balconies was an awesome example!
5. Ground yourself spiritually
Grounding can not be stressed enough! It is one of our biggest, & most underestimated core needs, at ANY time, especially testing times! Grounding is any natural practice that allows us to feel more centered, rooted, & stable within our physical body, & with our emotions. It allows us to feel a greater sense of calm, & connectedness with the nurturing, benevolent, comforting energies of the earth; & thus, a greater sense of inner balance; & mental & physical wellbeing.
Walk or sit barefoot on the floor, or better still, on grass, if you have a yard. Create a daily routine to practice meditation; solo, or with a virtual group; any kind of meditation- mantra based; chakra based; mindfulness; transcendental etc. Or do some basic, gentle Yoga or pranayama. Indulge in energy healing; sound baths. Play healing, immune boosting, soothing Solfeggio music frequencies around your home. Journal your deep thoughts. Listen to mentally, spiritually uplifting videos & read empowering books. Pray. Utilize this time as a precious gift by nature to go inwards, & connect with the answers that flow from a state of deep silence & clarity. You have to do this, to know this. If you are someone who has never inculcated this part of life, you might need to be a little more persistent to get to a point where you really start reaping its benefits. There is only as many answers you can receive from outside. A crisis makes us even more aware of this fact. Connect to the eternal power source, within, & use it to replace fear with faith; darkness with light; chaos with clarity…
